Differences in Essential Oil Quality | CPTG® Essential Oils

Essential oils are becoming very popular. There are a growing number of products claiming to be or to contain essential oils. They range in price and quality and are found in skin care, cosmetics, aromatherapy, and other products. However, many of these products do not use pure essential oils and often use fragrant synthetic chemical substitutes to dilute or replace more expensive essential oil extracts.

Generally,
synthetic oils are made for perfume and industrial applications. You'll find these in cleaners, air fresheners, fragrance perfumes and more. These can have dangerous side effects and are known to cause reactions in some people.

Food grade oils comply to the GRAS standard and are used as flavorings in products such as lemon flavoring, candies, and more. They generally have no therapeutic benefits.

Standard therapeutic grade essential oils are those most commonly found in specialty stores and can have some health benefits. However, there are no current regulatory standards for the descriptive use of the “therapeutic grade” for products labeled as essential oils. These oils can be pure and good quality or they can be alternated and diluted.

There are some companies that go the extra mile in sourcing, quality control, and testing. These make up the smallest amount of oils on the market today. dōTerra is one of these companies. They've created their own internal standard of purity, potency, and safety called Certified Pure Therapeutic Essential Oils. They are a step above, safer, and more effective.

dōTerra uses and trusts tests run by a third party highly experienced lab. Every liter of essential oils is tested with Gas Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry, FTIR Scan, Microbial Testing, Organoleptic Testing, Chirality Testing, Isotopic Analysis, & Heavy Metal Testing.

dōTerra sources their oils from indigenous regions around the world, allowing for the potent oils with the optimal amounts of chemical compounds for each oil and impacting the local economy for good.

What this means for the consumer is that the oils are more reliable, safe, pure, and potent. You can rely on them when you need them and can expect them to give a similar outcome.
