A couple of weeks ago I posted about the Green Cleaning Supplies available in our DIY shop. Natural cleaning and essential oils fit together so well. It's the same for natural body care and essential oils. It is a perfect combo!

Reducing toxic load is an important component in my family's wellness plan. Besides avoiding toxins in the foods we eat, I feel like keeping toxins out of the products that go on our bodies is one of the most important ways to reduce toxic load. As we know from our experiences with essential oils, substances that go on the surface of our bodies can effect how our bodies function on the inside.

If you aren't already using natural body care products, try some of our DIY recipes. They are so fun to make and you can feel good about your family using them. It is an excellent way to reduce the toxins in your home. They are also great for gift giving and for sample sharing if you have an essential oils business.

Sometimes the hardest part of getting started with DIY body care products is gathering the ingredients. We have pulled together a lot of them in our I Hearts Oils DIY Shop. Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Sweet Almond Oil, Castile Soap and lots more!

Below are a couple of recipes to start with. I love the Foaming Hand & Body Wash and the Lotions Bars are a fun alternative to regular lotion. Do you know anyone who doesn't like the feel of liquid lotions? Have them give these bars a try.

FOAMING HAND & BODY WASH:

Mix the first three ingredients and pour into foaming pumps. Add 10 drops of essential oil to each pump. Shake and use. (I use this recipe to make 7 bottles of hand soap at once. If you need less, just reduce the recipe.)

LOTION BARS:

In a double boiler, combine all ingredients except essential oils. Stir ingredients until smooth and melted. Remove from heat and add essential oils. Stir to incorporate. Carefully pour into molds such as a silicon muffin pan. Or pour into a wax paper lined pan and cut into bars when cool.
