Days for Girls

Any of you ladies out there ever had one of those days when your period made your life difficult? I certainly have! No need to go into details, but most of us have been there at one time or another. Now, imagine trying to live your life without access to feminine hygiene products? Almost impossible, right?
Unfortunately, this is the reality for millions of girls and women around the world. In 2008, Days for Girls founder, Celeste Mergens, wondered how the girls at an orphanage near Nairobi, Kenya were handling their feminine hygiene needs. She contacted the director of this orphanage where she was assisting and discovered that they were simply waiting out their periods in their beds. Celeste became aware of a problem that was keeping girls and women from fully participating in school and work every single month. This revelation motivated Celeste to take action that led to the creation of Days for Girls.
"Days for Girls is dedicated to creating a more free, dignified, and educated world, through providing lasting access to feminine hygiene solutions and health education."
Since 2015 doTERRA Healing Hands Foundation has supported Days for Girls with donations of cash and hygiene kits. They continue to support them as the work toward their goal of ensuring that every girl and woman has ready access to quality feminine hygiene by 2022.
I absolutely love learning about people who discovered a problem and took action to help solve it! There is so much power to do good in each person. What can you do to make a difference in the world?
