Brain Health & Essential Oils

Various studies suggest that there are many ways to "exercise your brain". Eat a healthy diet (lots of fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats - think omega 3 fatty acids like those found in xEO Mega), exercise, learn a new language, and a daily workout with a crossword puzzle or other challenging cognitive task can help keep our brains fit. Essential oils can also play a role in brain health.*

One recent study indicates that ingesting linalool, a compound found in many essential oils, on a regular basis may be associated with improved learning, memory, and general cognitive function.* Linalool is a naturally occurring chemical that seems to have many positive effects in addition to supporting healthy brain function. It is naturally cleansing, supports the immune and gastrointestinal systems, and has a calming effect on the mind and body.*

Linalool is found in the following essential oils. To take internally, add a couple of drops of any of these oils to a veggie capsule and swallow or add a 1 drop per 4oz of water or other liquid.

Essential oils can also act as triggers for cognitive functions such as learning and memory.* Like other aromas, those of essential oils can cause you to recall a memory. Whenever I smell sugar cookies, it takes me right back to epic Christmas cookie baking and frosting sessions from my childhood. Make the most of this memory association by diffusing oils that focus the brain when you are studying or working. I suggest InTune Focus Blend or Motivate Encouraging Blend. Later when you need to recall the information you learned, diffuse the same oils.
